Pegbox™ for macOS and Pegbox Remote for iPad · db SoundLabs, a brand of db Music Productions, Inc. · Last updated September 20, 2026
The short version.
Pegbox has no account, no analytics and no tracking, and it sends us no usage data at all. Your sounds and your work stay on your own computer. What db SoundLabs holds is only what you hand over: your purchase record from Gumroad, an email you write to support, and your email address if you ask us for release notes. We never sell any of it.
Pegbox Remote (iPad)
- It talks only to Pegbox running on your own Mac, over your local network. Nothing is sent anywhere else.
- It keeps one pairing token in the device's keychain, so your Mac recognises the iPad next time. Deleting the app removes it.
- It has no accounts, no sign-in, no advertising and no analytics.
- It asks for Local Network access purely to find your Mac.
Pegbox (macOS)
- Your library stays yours. Sounds, pictures, settings and sessions live on your Mac (or wherever you keep your library). Nothing is uploaded by us, and there is no cloud service.
- Your own AI accounts. The optional AI features use keys you supply. When you use them, what you send goes directly from your Mac to that company under your own account and their terms: ElevenLabs for sound effects, voice, voice isolation and transcription; Google (Gemini) or OpenAI for tile pictures. db SoundLabs never sees that material and never receives a copy.
- Your keys. API keys are stored in your Mac's keychain, never in the library file and never transmitted to us.
- Licensing. To unlock Pegbox, the app sends your licence key to Gumroad, which sold it, and stores the answer in your keychain. It repeats that check about once a month. Gumroad holds your purchase details under their privacy policy; db SoundLabs sees only what any seller sees about their own sales.
- Pro Tools. Spotting talks to Pro Tools on the same Mac. Nothing leaves the machine.
- No analytics. Pegbox sends no usage data, no crash reports and no telemetry.
Support
If you email support, we see your message and your email address, and keep them only as long as it takes to help you. We don't add you to any list.
Buying Pegbox
Pegbox is sold through Gumroad, which takes your payment and holds your purchase details as its own controller, under its policy. We see only what any seller sees about their own sales: the email address on the order, what was bought, and when. The Gumroad page you buy on is Gumroad's, and any cookies it sets there are theirs.
Release notes by email
The form on the Pegbox page is optional and separate from the app. If you enter your email address, it goes to Buttondown, the service that sends the mail for us, and we use it for nothing but telling you when Pegbox is updated. Every message has an unsubscribe link, and leaving removes your email address. We don't sell or share the list, and the Pegbox site itself sets no cookies and runs no analytics.
Your choices
Write to info@dbsoundlabs.com and we will tell you what we hold about you, correct it, or delete it — including any email you sent support and your place on the release-notes list. Purchase records we have to keep for tax and accounting, and a refund request goes through Gumroad. You don't need a reason to ask, wherever you live.
Children
Pegbox is a professional audio tool, not directed at children, and we don't knowingly collect anything from one.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date above changes with it, and the current version always lives at this address.
